  Psychology, throughout its history, has researched on knowledge, on the relationship between humans and the surrounding environment and on the same human being who thinks and feels, and on this tour we find the background and the first approaches to the concept of psychology, mind and thought, reflection, intelligence, emotion and, more recently, emotional intelligence and Positive Psychology.

  At first, from pre-scientific interpretations, and more recently, since the mid-eighteenth century, Psychology focused on defining its role, in identifying itself as science, determining its objectives, and given that the negative feelings attracted more attention to the psychologists, by the need to give them a respond and treatment, Psychology is especially dedicated to study Psychopathology, disorders and pain or emotional illness, and how to find ways to prevent and overcome them, but it put aside, or forgot, to study happiness as a process of maturity and creative and ignored the positive and those persons who feel happy and fulfilled, and all those qualities or characteristics and meanings that make a person feel good or factors that make life worth living fullness life.

  Several authors had supported this idea, stating that interest in the Psychopathology had overshadowed, if not ignored, the positive aspects of daily life, noting that the relationship between emotions, mainly focused on negative tone and health, have been studied by Psychology for many years, and, however, interest in the study of positive emotions is much more recent, and its relationship and significance to health is something that is starting to grow on these moments.

  The XXIII International Congress on «PSYCHOLOGY: SCIENCE AND PROFESSION» is intended to penetrate and reflect on these new perspectives, both from the point of view of Educational and Developmental Psychology; Social and Organizational Psychology; and from the Clinical and Health Psychology and / or from other branches related to SCIENCE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFESSION.

  On that we will focus our efforts and we invite you to participate.

  XXIII INFAD International Congress will be held to enable and facilitate a space to bring this first and pioneering research and / or the data carried out by on-going works in order to contrast contributions, opinions, suggestions and offer them to the scientific community. The XXIII International Congress INFAD synthesizes a place where researchers, professors and professionals will bring us the work, new lines of research, illusion, effort and especially a lot of updating knowledge and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and present new reflections. This Congress encourages the approach and the relationship among the various professionals in the field of Psychology.

  Congress theme focused on «Psychology: Science and Profession. Insights from Psychology of Education and Development; Social and Organizational Psychology; Clinical Psychology and Health» is very eloquent. Research and science today require us not only to provide solutions to problems. «Where there is a problem there is a solution,» we say, but we must go further in order to help to contribute to the happiness, welfare and get a full, personal and vital realization.

 

Goals. The XXIII International Congress INFAD aims to:

1.- Bring together experts to reflect on the role of Psychology to face social difficulties that arise in this today’s world and propose a positive change to life.

2.- Present investigations carried out, or in progress, on the contributions of Positive Psychology in social, family and educational contexts, of values of change, Social and Organizational Psychology and / or Psychology of Health, etc.

3.- Start a deep reflection on the current concerns around the field of Psychology. What does our society ask to us? what does our society demand us about interpersonal relationships, what is the self-awareness that emerges in the current conditions of development in several contexts like socio-cultural, inter-group, inter-generational, cross-cultural, technological, etc? And once all is analyzed, do it from the field of Psychology.

4.- Highlight the role of the Educational, Social, Clinical Psychologist.

5.- Discuss the role of psychologists and their possible intervention.

6.- Share and discuss the latest and theoretical-conceptual, technological-instrumental and technical-practical advances carried out by Spanish, European, American and Asian researchers, within the framework of the Congress.

7.- Establish, expand and / or strengthen international networks of researchers and professionals.

8.- Promote the  exchange between academic psychologists and professinals of Psychology.

9.- Ensure that your stay in Sicily is -from every point of view- very scientific and interesting.
